Lithium-ion batteries are everywhere. They power e-bikes, phones, laptops, scooters, and a growing list of other household devices. This means most families have several of these batteries charging in their home right now without giving it a second thought. The problem is that damaged batteries, counterfeit chargers, and unsafe storage can lead to a serious house fire.

NFPA has made lithium-ion battery safety a major focus of its public education efforts, and its 2025 Fire Prevention Week campaign centered entirely on safe charging habits to reduce home fire risks.

To help educate communities about lithium-ion battery fire risks, every Inflatable Fire Education House now includes a dedicated lithium-ion battery safety banner!
Lithium Battery Safety Tip Banner
The banner keeps the messaging simple and practical. Visitors will learn why it matters to buy certified devices and batteries instead of cheap knockoffs, how to charge smart devices instead of leaving them plugged in overnight or unattended, and why regular inspection for battery swelling, dents, or damage matters before a problem occurs. It also covers safe storage away from heat and clutter, what to do the moment a battery starts smoking or leaking, how to dispose of batteries responsibly instead of tossing them in the regular trash, and where it’s safe to charge a device.
Many people are unaware of the risks that come from their devices. By adding this banner into our Inflatable Fire Education Houses, we hope to help educate communities and keep people safe.
Low, Fast, and Out: Our New Smoke Crawl Tunnel
We have also updated our Inflatable Fire Education House with new smoke crawl tunnels. These tunnels are all about giving participants real exit experience where they have to stay low and crawl through to get out of the house, the same way they would need to if smoke were filling a real room.
Smoke rises fast in an actual fire, and the lower few feet of a room are almost always the safest place to be. Giving people, especially children, that real world experience helps kids actually remember to stay low during a real emergency.
Add a Smoke Machine for a Realistic Escape Drill
For departments that want to take the experience even further, we now offer a smoke machine add-on for the fire house. It fills the space with safe, visible simulated smoke so the crawl tunnel exit feels like the real thing instead of a hypothetical. Seeing the space fill with smoke helps give kids a stronger sense of what to expect and how to react if they are ever in the situation for real.
